OpenVerse Wiki:Privacy policy
Last updated: 7 July 2026
This page describes how the OpenVerse Wiki (https://wiki.open-verse.eu) processes personal data, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation, "GDPR").
Who operates this website
This wiki is maintained and operated by Martel GmbH (martel-innovate.com). All infrastructure used to run this website — including the web server, the database and the analytics platform — is hosted in a data centre located within the European Union and is managed directly by Martel GmbH.
Web analytics
To understand how visitors use this wiki and to improve our content and services, this website uses Matomo, an open-source web analytics platform. The complete source code of Matomo is publicly available on GitHub.
Unlike third-party analytics services, our Matomo instance is:
- self-hosted: it runs on infrastructure operated and managed by Martel GmbH;
- hosted in the European Union: analytics data never leaves the EU;
- first-party only: no analytics data is transmitted to, shared with, or sold to any third party.
Data collected
Analytics is enabled only after you give your explicit consent via the cookie banner. Until you accept, no analytics script is loaded and no data is sent to the analytics platform.
With your consent, the following information is collected for statistical purposes:
- pages visited and time of visit;
- the referring page or website;
- browser type, operating system, screen resolution and language;
- anonymised technical identifiers used to distinguish returning visitors.
This information is used exclusively in aggregated form to produce usage statistics.
Cookies
This website uses two categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary cookies — session cookies required for core functionality such as logging in and editing. These do not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive.
- Analytics cookies (
_pk_id,_pk_ses) — set by Matomo only after you accept the cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics requests are made by your browser.
Your consent choice is stored locally in your browser and is not transmitted to us.
Withdrawing your consent
You may withdraw or change your consent at any time by clearing this website's site data (cookies and local storage) in your browser settings. The cookie banner will then be shown again on your next visit.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase and restrict the processing of your personal data, as well as the right to data portability and the right to object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.
